what is kaalachakra

On this earth, every living being is born according to the results of actions (karma) performed in their past lives. Thereafter, under the governance of divine time, they experience the consequences of those past actions in the present. This is the law of destiny. According to this divine order, both auspicious and inauspicious results occur. This operates in the following manner:

From the beginning of creation until today, every living being exists in a cycle of cosmic time — through the ages of a kalpa, the eras within each kalpa known as manvantaras, the epochs (yugas) within each manvantara, and the years, seasons, months, lunar fortnights (pakshas), lunar days (tithis), weeks, and days within each year. These temporal divisions are governed and balanced by dual cosmic forces through the interplay of the five elements (pancha bhutas), the nine planets (nava grahas), and their conjunctions with stars (nakshatras). This combination of forces results in specific yogas (planetary configurations), which blend together into a divine void the realm of divinity itself which constitutes the Wheel of Time (Kaala Chakra) for every living being. From this Time Wheel, birth arises, and based on the planetary and stellar influences at the moment of birth, sixty distinct life conditions are formed, which shape an individual’s destiny.

To attain favorable outcomes from these life conditions, even before the beginning of creation, Goddess Parvati, concerned for the well-being and future of all living beings entangled in this cycle of time, requested Lord Shiva — the supreme master of time to reveal a path by which souls might escape their destined cycles. In response, the Lord expounded upon the Mahakaala Chakra, a divine remedy explained through Yaksha Jyotisha (celestial astrology).

He(Shiva) revealed:

“O Devi…! Once every thirty years, on a Sunday during the dark lunar phase (Amavasya) when the Anuradha nakshatra is in influence, a rare and significant planetary alignment occurs. This specific alignment is called the Mahakaala Chakra, and it possesses the power to alter the fate of all beings.”

During this extraordinary planetary convergence, if according to the Yaksha tradition and the ancient mantras of Yaksha Jyotisha individuals worship and invoke the 246 deities of time in one sacred place and at the same moment, then those devotees become worthy of divine grace. Through this grace, the deities who govern the Wheel of Time become benevolent, and such individuals are liberated from the bondage of karma and the cycle of rebirth. In this very lifetime, they shall fulfill all their desires and experience divine prosperity and joy. This is the greatness of the Mahakaala Chakra.

As Lord Shiva thus instructed Goddess Parvati on the glory of the Mahakaala Chakra, the celestial astrologer of the gods — the great Yaksha named Manibhadra — documented its details in the sacred scripture of Yaksha Jyotisha.

According to this scripture, based on the present calendar, such a rare and auspicious planetary configuration occurred on Sunday, December 1st, 2024, during Amavasya and under the influence of the Anuradha Nakshatra at dawn marking the manifestation of the Mahakaala Chakra and the emergence of powerful cosmic yogas.
